The AP Program offers college-level courses and exams you can take in high school. With qualifying AP Exam scores, students can earn credit and/or advanced placement or both.
Nearly all colleges and universities in the United States and more than 4000 universities in 100 countries, (such as the U.K., Canada, Singapore, the Middle East, etc.), consider AP participation favourably for admission and have policies around AP credit and placement.
AP Exams are administered once every year during the first two weeks of May.
Students are strongly encouraged to register during the first window, between September and November (prior to the testing year), to ensure they have ample time to prepare.

A Head Start in High School: Research consistently shows that AP students are better prepared for college than students who don’t take AP, regardless of their exam score. They’re more likely to enroll and stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate in four years.
Review the AP course descriptions for the subject(s) you want to test in. Each description explains which topics are covered in the AP course and what might be on the exam.
The 2026 AP Exams will be administered in schools over two weeks in May:
Early testing or testing at times other than those published by College Board is not permitted under any circumstances. Late-testing dates are available if students cannot test during the first two weeks of May.
